Franz Sauerstein on preparing for an ecommerce relaunch

Franz Sauerstein, Strategic Advisor at Schwungvoll, describes his view of the preparation, advice and working relationship with Claudia Misselwitz and Chris Wheeler before a planned ecommerce relaunch.

German-language recording, 1 minute 43 seconds. English captions are enabled by default. The video was recorded before the relaunch.

What the reference supports

Preparation, advice and working style

The recording documents Franz Sauerstein's personal assessment at the preparation stage. He discusses risks that were raised, solutions that were proposed, additional specialist input and his experience of working with Claudia and Chris.

What it does not prove

It is not evidence of the later relaunch outcome

The video does not establish that the migration was completed successfully, or that rankings, revenue, conversion or margin subsequently changed. It is not a guarantee of a future SEO or ecommerce result.

Search engine optimisation is always a subject in its own right, and SEO specialists are another matter again. It is, so to speak, the black box within the black box.

Before working with someone, the doubt is naturally considerable: are they actually telling me something sound? Do they really have the experience, or am I walking into the lion's den and never finding my way out again?

Fortunately, with Claudia and Chris from letsrocc, it is completely different.

We have a relaunch of our ecommerce shop coming up. With Claudia and Chris's help, we now genuinely know that it will go smoothly, rather than simply hoping that it will. They not only listened to the concerns I had and proposed solutions, but also raised issues I had not yet considered and provided solutions for those as well.

In the short time I spent with them, I received more input, and above all more valuable input, than in two two-day SEO seminars. Absolutely fantastic. They are not only at the top of their field, they are also friendly and enjoyable to work with.

I can genuinely recommend working with Claudia and Chris from letsrocc to any marketing leader, managing director or business owner of an ecommerce company, particularly a larger ecommerce business that manufactures or refines its own products.

If anyone has further questions about my experience of working with them, you are welcome to contact me for a personal reference. Chris and Claudia, thank you very much for your help.

Before release approval

Seven leadership questions before an ecommerce relaunch

These are general questions for a leadership team preparing a material platform change. They do not describe the details or results of the project mentioned in the video.

01

Decision rights

Name the people who can approve scope, priorities, technical changes, content and the actual launch. Every open decision needs one accountable owner.

02

A measurable baseline

Preserve defensible reference points for organic demand, revenue events, conversion, margin and technical search signals before the change. Without them, post-launch movement cannot be interpreted properly.

03

SEO continuity

Inventory indexed page types, rankings, internal links, canonical URLs, structured data and hreflang signals. The new architecture must make the intended successor to each valuable asset clear.

04

Redirects and indexation

Map and test every material legacy URL against one permanent destination. Avoid redirect chains, conflicting canonicals and sitemaps containing redirected or non-indexable URLs.

05

Platform and data dependencies

Test product data, checkout, search, consent, analytics, CRM, feeds and integrations as one operating system. A technically successful launch can still damage measurement or the buying journey.

06

Release criteria

Agree the commercial, functional, technical, legal and analytical conditions that must be met before release. A calendar date is not a launch criterion.

07

Stop and recovery conditions

Document which failures trigger a stop, how recovery works and who can order it. Backups are useful only when the restoration path, data position and ownership have been tested.

Define the review before the relaunch

Decide what can be approved and what still needs evidence before release.

In the initial conversation, we establish the decision at stake, the evidence already available and the appropriate review boundary. It is not a free audit or unpaid preliminary consultancy.
