AI visibility reports and commercial decisions

You have an AI visibility report. What decision can it support?

A report may show AI Overviews, mentions, citations, sampled prompts or referral visits. Before you invest more, change direction or stop the work, you need to know what was actually measured and whether it connects to qualified demand.

A citation is evidence of presence. It is not evidence of demand.

Start with the decision, not the score

This page is for the person accountable for marketing, ecommerce or commercial performance. It helps you frame one of five decisions without pretending that a visibility score supplies the answer.

1

Continue

Keep the current work unchanged because the evidence is sufficient for the present decision.

2

Improve measurement

Define the sample, source and downstream measures before changing the work.

3

Run a bounded test

Test one explicit hypothesis with an owner, review date and stopping condition.

4

Change or reduce

Alter the investment, content or measurement approach because the present evidence no longer justifies it.

5

Take no further action

Leave what is working alone when further intervention is unlikely to improve the decision.

Four observations that are often called AI visibility

These measures answer different questions. Record the provider, market, sample and period before comparing them.

AI Overview occurrence

Google displayed an AI Overview for a tracked query. This does not establish that your organisation appeared in it.

Brand mention

Your organisation appeared in a defined set of generated answers. A mention does not necessarily include a link or recommendation.

Citation or source reference

A page or domain was cited within a defined prompt sample. The result depends on the prompts, market, model and collection method.

Referral visit

An identifiable AI source sent a visit to your site. That visit still needs to be connected to landing behaviour and a commercial outcome.

Three-part AI visibility evidence check

Use this check to define the report, record what happened afterwards and frame the decision that needs human review. Your answers stay in this browser tab, are not submitted and disappear when the page reloads.

Do not enter exact financial figures, personal data, confidential information or client names. Use a range or an internal reference where commercial context is useful.

  1. 1Define the report
  2. 2Reconcile the evidence
  3. 3Frame the decision
1. Define the report

State what the provider measured, where and over which period. If the definition is unclear, the reported value cannot be compared safely.

2. Reconcile the evidence

Record what first-party evidence exists after the visibility observation. Use an internal reference or range rather than confidential detail.

What else changed?

Record only enough context to avoid assigning every downstream movement to AI visibility.

3. Frame the decision

Choose the action under consideration, name its owner and record what would need to be known before the review date.

Current evidence state

More information is needed to frame the decision

This is a form-completion state, not a score, ROI estimate, diagnosis or recommendation.

Why this state appears

Define the report and the decision boundary before treating the visibility observation as evidence for action.

Reloading the page clears every answer.

How the evidence boundary works

A ranking tool may report that hundreds of tracked queries produced AI Overviews. That establishes the search-result feature occurred in the tracked set. It does not establish that your organisation appeared in those answers.

A prompt-monitoring tool may find your domain mentioned or cited in sampled answers. That establishes presence within that provider's prompt set, markets and collection period. It does not establish that a buyer saw the answer or acted on it.

Referral, enquiry, opportunity and revenue evidence can strengthen the commercial picture. It still may show an association rather than prove that the visibility caused the outcome.

What to reconcile before you act

You do not need perfect attribution. You do need enough clarity to avoid treating unlike measures as one score.

  • metric definitions and sampling
  • AI referrals and landing behaviour
  • informational versus buyer-intent visibility
  • whether the cited page answers the buyer's real question
  • what the visitor encounters after a citation or referral
  • CRM, enquiry, opportunity and revenue reconciliation
  • commercial ownership and the review decision

Choose the route that matches the decision

AI visibility, AI authority and a wider commercial-system problem are not three names for the same service.

Visibility and commercial value

Your question is whether mentions, citations or referrals justify a marketing or ecommerce decision.

This may form one bounded evidence question inside the full Marketing MRI.

Review the Marketing MRI

One AI-enabled workflow

Your concern is what one workflow may access, recommend, change or trigger.

AI Authority Snapshot: €2,500 plus VAT. One tightly bounded workflow. 7-10 working days.

Review the AI Authority Snapshot

Several workflows or functions

The authority question crosses systems, owners or more than one business function.

Cross-functional AI Authority Review: from €7,500 plus VAT. Up to three workflows across two functions. 10-15 working days.

Review the cross-functional offer

If AI is only one part of a wider problem involving marketing, sales, ecommerce, customer operations, measurement or ownership, the work moves into the full Marketing MRI. The smaller reviews do not quietly expand into a discounted MRI.

What this page can and cannot do

It can help you define the report, separate observation from commercial evidence and frame the decision that needs human review. It cannot measure your visibility, calculate ROI, diagnose the business or prove causation from answers entered into a browser.

Bring us the decision, not a polished business case

Tell Chris and Claudia what was reported, what decision you face and what evidence is missing. Do not send confidential, financial or client-identifying data. We will tell you which route fits, including when no paid examination is justified.
